March 2026 - IMUA Board Class of 2029

Posted By: Matt Derrick IMUA in Motion,

One of the most important responsibilities we have as an organization is ensuring strong, thoughtful leadership for the future. That’s why I’m pleased to share the results of our recent Board election and to welcome IMUA’s Board Class of 2029, along with an important addition to our officer leadership team.

First, I want to thank all the candidates who expressed interest in serving. We had an exceptionally strong and diverse slate this year, which is a testament to the engagement and commitment across our membership. I’m also grateful to everyone who participated in the voting process. With an overwhelming majority approval, this year’s class reflects a clear vote of confidence from the IMUA community.

Please join me in welcoming our newest Board members:

  1. Sherry Gibbs (Allianz) brings more than three decades of leadership experience across underwriting, operations, and training. She has a deep commitment to developing talent, which will be especially important as we continue to expand IMUA’s educational offerings.
  2. Andrew Gristina (Great American Insurance Group) has been a longtime and highly engaged IMUA volunteer, including serving as Chair of the Arts & Records Committee for several years. His steady leadership and hands-on involvement have already made a meaningful impact on the organization.
  3. Alexander McGinley (Property & Marine Insurance Commission) brings a perspective we don’t always have at the Board level, with experience across both MGAs and advisory/rating organizations. That lens will be increasingly important as our industry continues to evolve.
  4. Lori Montoya (The Hartford) offers extensive leadership experience in builder’s risk and construction, along with a strong passion for education and workforce development. She has also built deep industry relationships that will benefit IMUA as we continue to grow.
  5. Dafir Ouazzani (Ascot) has been involved in IMUA for many years, including serving as Chair of the Transportation Committee and in multiple regional roles. He knows this organization well and brings both technical expertise and a strong commitment to its future.

In addition, I’m pleased to share that Bradley Cameron (Sompo) has been selected to join our officer leadership team as Finance Chair. Bradley has already demonstrated strong leadership within IMUA, and this role positions him to progress through our officer track and ultimately serve as Board Chair in 2029. His perspective will be important as we continue to strengthen IMUA’s financial foundation.

Over the past year, I’ve talked many times about the importance of building a strong foundation here at IMUA. I believe that foundation is now firmly in place, and this next group of leaders will play a key role in helping us grow. They will help expand our reach, evolve our educational offerings, and continue to strengthen the value we provide to our members.

Just as importantly, this year’s process reflects our continued focus on transparency, inclusiveness, and intentional governance—ensuring that IMUA’s leadership evolves alongside the industry we serve.

If you’re new and will be joining us at the Annual Meeting in San Antonio, I encourage you to take a few minutes to meet these new Board members and Bradley in person. And if you’ve been here some time and likely already know them, please thank them for their commitment to IMUA and this incredible profession.

Please join me in congratulating and welcoming these outstanding leaders!

Matt
